An airtight first-half saw Michael Kiely’s point the difference between the sides as the hosts carried in a 0-10 to 0-9 lead at half-time, with Brian Duignan and Adam Screeney doing most of the damage for Offaly.
A couple of Halloran frees pulled Peter Queally’s side five clear before the same player got in for a goal which had the scoreboard suddenly reading 1-15 to 0-10.
A couple more frees from Screeney along with a David Nally point kept the visitors in with an outside chance in the latter stages before Halloran completed his 1-12 tally deep in injury-time.
