Donegal manager Jim McGuinness says he’ll probably look to rotate some of his players for Saturday’s Dr McKenna Cup final against Monaghan.
The Ulster champions booked their place into the pre-season competition’s decider thanks to a 1-18 to 1-16 victory over Derry last night at Celtic Park, where 1-7 without reply in the second-half saw them edging out the Oak Leafers.
Speaking to BBC Sport NI afterwards, McGuinness said his team were happy to get into the final and earn themselves another tough test ahead of the Allianz League’s start the weekend after next.
"We played a Division 1 team tonight in many respects and Monaghan are the same, so it's great from that point of view," said the Glenties man.
"It's getting closer to the first (league) game so we'll probably manage and rotate some of the players and give fellas that haven't had tough minutes, some minutes and marry all those things to see if we can get ready for the first league game."
On his team’s performance, he added: "Very good challenge, Derry threw a lot at it in the first-half and it's just great from our own point of view that we were able to look at players again and respond to the challenge they laid down, so happy to get into the final."
