Former Kerry boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice feels that Dublin will probably be “better off” playing their Round 2B clash against Cavan outside of Croke Park.

Tuesday morning’s draw for the second round of the All-Ireland senior football championship series saw the Dubs pulling Dermot McCabe’s side out of the hat, with a trip to Kingspan Breffni now beckoning for them on Sunday week, June 14th (throw-in 2pm).

Speaking on the RTÉ GAA podcast, Fitzmaurice believes the different venue might benefit the capital men who will have supremo Ger Brennan back on the sidelines after his 12-week suspension elapses on Saturday night.

"Ironically, they're probably better off out of Croke Park because they can't seem to win games there," said the 2014 All-Ireland winning manager.

"The only game they won in Croke Park all this season was they beat Monaghan there in the league when Monaghan were missing half their team. Other than that, they've lost all their games there. They lost all the league games there, and they've lost the championship games there.

"I'm certainly finding it hard to get my head around where they are and how swift the decline has been and how absolute the decline has been. It's just remarkable.

"They aren't the force of old, but to be losing as many games as they are, I definitely wouldn't have expected that.

"It still is fixable. They still have great players in their ranks, but it seems a long way back for them."
