All-Ireland senior football champions Kerry were named Team of the Year at last night’s RTÉ Sport Awards.
Jack O’Connor’s men triumphed to their county’s 39th All-Ireland SFC success in July when they defeated Donegal by 1-26 to 0-19 at Croke Park.
The Sam Maguire Cup victory added to the Kingdom’s Allianz League and Munster championship titles earned earlier in the year and last night saw them picking up the team award at the prestigious ceremony in Donnybrook.
Elsewhere, Masters champion Rory McIlroy was named RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year while swimmer John Shortt won the RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year and Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley collected the RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year award, while legendary Irish hooker and captain Ciaran Fitzgerald was inducted into the RTÉ Sport Hall of Fame.
