Pat Bennett is set to be named as Carlow’s new senior hurling manager.

The former Waterford hurler’s name will be put forward for ratification at the next county board meeting. He will succeed Tom Mullally, who stepped down after five years in charge last week. Hailing from the Ballysaggart club and father of current Waterford stars Shane, Stephen and Kieran, Bennett boasts an impressive CV which includes coaching Antrim – he was part of Davy Fitzgerald’s backroom team this year – Waterford and Kerry.

He also managed Ferns, St Aidan’s to an historic Wexford SHC title in 2022. His first game as Carlow manager will be against Dublin in the Walsh Cup on January 4.
