Cargin power past Creggan to book Antrim SFC semi-final spot

Erin’s Own, Cargin are through to the semi-finals of the Antrim senior football championship thanks to a 2-17 to 0-14 win over Creggan Kickhams in Ballymena last night.

Goals from Jack O’Neill and James Laverty paved the path to victory for the Toome men as they stayed on course for a 14th SFC success in the Saffron County.

O’Neill’s major helped last year’s beaten finalists to hold a 1-9 to 0-7 lead at the interval at Quinn Park, where Kickhams had landed five unanswered points via Conor Small (2), Kevin Small, Conor Johnston and Jamie McCann to cut their deficit to two three late in the first-half.

Conhuir Johnston helped increase Cargin’s lead to five before the break and they’d land another hammer blow in the 44th minute when Laverty struck a rocket into the Kickhams’ net (watch it below).

From there, Conan Johnston saw his point backed up by three-in-a-row by Conhuir Johnston (one free) to put a seal on Cargin’s victory, leaving them a win away from a return to the county decider.
