Raharney dethrone holders to reach Westmeath SHC final

Raharney boss Johnny Greville

Raharney will face Lough Lene Gaels in the Westmeath SHC final after dethroning three-in-a-row chasing Castletown-Geoghegan in yesterday’s semi-final at TEG Cusack Park.

Johnny Greville’s charges were in no way flattered by their 1-23 to 1-19 victory which was their second over the holders in this campaign and leaves them just 60 minutes away from their first Examiner Cup success since 2023. It also gives them an opportunity to avenge their Round 5 loss to Lough Lene Gaels – a result which saw the Collinstown men qualify directly for their fourth successive final.

The Deelsiders never looked back after Cormac McKeogh set up Eoghan Ahearne for the opening goal which helped them to a 1-12 to 0-9 interval lead. They continued to keep Alan Mangan’s men at arm’s length in the second half, and had four points to spare in the end, despite Peter Clarke blasting a late free to the net for the black and ambers.
