Armagh forward Rory Grugan says he was delighted to see Kieran McGeeney being confirmed for a 12th season in charge of the Orchard County.
Last month saw the 2002 All-Ireland winning captain being ratified for the 2026 season, having become the longest serving inter-county manager in 2023 after Colm Collins stepped down as Clare boss.
Speaking to RTE Sport, Grugan, who won All-Ireland honours under McGeeney last year, says there is no doubt in his mind that he remains the best man for the job.
"It's just better for Armagh that he's there and that's the long and short of it," he stated.
"What he's done for us as a team to take us from a place where we were to. Challenging for provincial and national honours and eventually winning the All-Ireland – it’s a huge journey.
"I've spoken many times how glad I was for him on a personal level that he got that recognition of us winning an All-Ireland title and it’s the nature of the man that he just wants to drive us on.
“He’ll be looking for fresh blood through these club championships and trying to build the squad again because he just wants us to win, he wants Armagh to be better."
