Tipperary’s Niamh Martin has joined Hawthorn from North Melbourne in the AFLW.

Martin, who won an All-Ireland intermediate ladies football medal with the Premier County in 2019, agreed a deal with the Hawks on the final day of the Trade Period. She did not play AFLW this season, but will run out in the brown and gold in 2026.

"We see Niamh as someone who has an ability to do a few different things. The skillset she displayed when she was playing AFLW previously, built around speed and you look at the way the competition is going and some of our players as well, she fits in with that," Hawthorn General Manager of AFLW Keegan Brooksby said.

"(Her) age profile suits what we need as well. We've got 16 players under 22 so having someone that can complement that group but who can also be here a while, she ticks a lot of boxes for what we're looking for in a player. She's a fantastic person as well who will really help our environment."

Martin will link up with Mayo’s Aileen Gilroy after she signed a new deal at the Hawks.

The 32-year-old struggled with a hamstring injury in the first half of the 2025 season, sitting out the first five games, but finished with nine consecutive matches to take her career tally to 70.
