Ben O’Connor was already turning his thoughts to Cork’s Munster SHC opener against Tipperary in a fortnight’s time after yesterday’s defeat to Limerick in the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A final.
“Sunday week, we'll see now but we didn't give it our best there, tried hard but I thought the hurling was sloppy at times,” the Cork manager told reporters at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
“We've a lot of learnings to take from it and we'll improve from it. Sunday week now is the one. Limerick are still a good bit ahead of us and that we have a lot of work to do.”
Despite his obvious disappointment, O’Connor expressed satisfaction with Cork’s League campaign overall.
“There's a lot of other teams that weren't there (in the final) today. We got exactly what we wanted out of the League, only we didn't get the cup today.
“We got game-time into every fella, we've got a good buzz in the group going because every fella's getting game-time. Look, we've a fair idea of where we're going after this – great to get the League final, but I suppose it's all down to Thurles in two weeks' time.”
