Jim McGuinness believes Donegal’s Ulster SFC quarter-final against Down could still take place in MacCumhaill Park.

The Ballybofey venue is currently undergoing redevelopment works, which includes the laying of a new pitch, but McGuinness isn’t ruling it out of the running to host the clash with the Mourne County on Sunday, April 26. In the event of it not being available, the game will take place in O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny where the 8,000-capacity is less than half of that of MacCumhaill Park.

“We are definitely not closing the door on MacCumhaill Park yet,” the Donegal manager said after his side avenged last year’s All-Ireland final defeat to Kerry in Ballyshannon’s Fr Tierney Park.

“I think that potentially could be an option for us for the Championship as well. So we'll just wait to see how the pitch goes and wait to see how it develops over the next number of months. And hopefully a decision will be made then.”

Donegal’s remaining Allianz Football League ‘home’ games against Mayo and Galway will be played at O’Donnell Park and Fr Tierney Park respectively.
