The Cavan senior football championship is set to come down to its last two teams this weekend with both semi-finals down for decision on Sunday.
First up at Kingspan Breffni is the crunch tie between rivals Crosserlough and Gowna (3pm), as the former look to reach back-to-back finals having defeated Ramor United in last year’s Oliver Plunkett Cup decider.
Champions in 2022 and 2023, Gowna, who have former Monaghan manager Vinnie Corey over them, defeated their Kilnaleck counterparts in the latter year (1-18 to 0-14) to reach the county final where they saw off Kingscourt Stars.
The Stars will look to book a final return on Sunday when they face Ramor United at the Cavan Town venue at 5pm.
Colin Kelly’s side came from a dozen points behind to defeat Ballyhaise and earn their place in the last four, while Ramor United were made to grind out a 1-11 to 0-11 win over Mullahoran 10 days’ ago when Matthew Smith’s goal was the difference between the sides.
The Cavan SFC final is set to be played on the weekend of October 11/12 at Kingspan Breffni.
