With the start of the 2026 inter-county season just around the corner, there are a number of attractive challenge / charity matches taking place this weekend.

On Saturday, All-Ireland hurling champions Tipperary meet neighbours Kilkenny in a senior hurling charity match at Templetuohy at 1pm. All profits go to Mary’s Meals Ireland. Every donation made will be doubled by the Tom Cunningham Trust.

Also on Saturday, Kildare will face Kerry in a senior football challenge in Cedral St Conleth’s Park at 5pm. The meeting of the Tailteann Cup and All-Ireland champions will see Kerry manager Jack O’Connor return to his old stomping ground.

There is another senior football challenge between Galway and Westmeath taking place on Saturday at 3.30pm in Milltown, Co. Galway to mark the official opening of the club’s new stand and floodlights. Admission is free.

Then, on Sunday, Mayo host Offaly in another pre-Christmas senior football charity match in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park at 1.30pm. All proceeds will go towards Mayo Cancer Support.
