Kilkenny have been dealt an injury blow ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final against Tipperary with the news that Harry Shine has suffered a season-ending cruciate ligament injury.
The rising star from Dicksboro, who was on the bench for the Leinster final win over Galway, sustained the injury in training, Derek Lyng said at yesterday’s media event in UPMC Nowlan Park.
"We've lost Harry Shine, he did his ACL last week in training which is unfortunate for him, particularly at this stage of his career, but at the same time, he's done a huge amount of work and he'll get his head down and hopefully have surgery in the next couple of weeks," the Kilkenny manager explained.
"He's going to have a road ahead of him, but he'll get through that as well. It's unfortunate to lose him, I feel sorry for him, but he'll be back at some stage. But unfortunately, this season is over."
U20 star Marty Murphy is also ruled out with a hamstring injury, but Eoin Cody is back to full fitness after missing the Leinster final.
“Eoin is available for selection again so he's come through the last few weeks, he's done well and worked hard,” Lyng added.
Tipp are reporting a clean bill of health ahead of the Croke Park showdown.
