The Sigerson Cup is down to its last four teams following the conclusion of its quarter-final stage last night (Wednesday).

Holders DCU are out of the competition after falling to a 3-16 to 1-20 defeat at the hands of UCC at the DCU Sportsgrounds.

Tom Cunningham and Cormac Dillon grabbed the late goals in Glasnevin which saw the Cork students advancing, while University of Galway edged a 0-15 to 0-14 victory over UCD in Belfield to book their place in the semi-finals.

Shane McGrath’s two-pointer late on proved to be the difference between the sides and there’d be another away quarter-final victory in Grangegorman, where Queen’s University, Belfast scored a 3-18 to 2-16 win against TUD.

Goals from Conor O'Neill, Ryan McQuillan (1-6) and Michael Burnett were key for the visitors, as were UL’s goals against Maynooth University at the UL Grounds.

It finished 3-16 to 0-17 in favour of the Limerick students after extra time, with Daithí Hogan’s goal forcing the added periods for David Power’s side and, from there, they were able to see out the eight-point victory to advance into the last four.
