Tubberclair and Shandonagh qualified for the Westmeath IFC final last weekend, but their semi-final victories were overshadowed by a couple of unsavoury incidents.

In the first of the semi-finals at TEG Cusack Park on Saturday, fighting broke out in the stand after a Milltownpass player – who had been sent off moments earlier – entered the crowd at the end of his side’s defeat to Tubberclair. The fighting and verbals continued while the Coralstown/Kinnegad and St Loman’s teams were warming up on the pitch for their SFC semi-final, which was the second part of the double-header.

At the same venue on Sunday, a Milltown player was sent off for striking an opponent on the ground as Shandonagh came out on top in the second of the IFC last-four ties.

Both incidents have been widely viewed and shared online, and are expected to result in lengthy bans for the players involved.
