Limerick hit 1-1 in injury-time to snatch a 2-12 to 1-14 win against Tipperary and claim the All-Ireland minor hurling championship title for the first time since 1984.
Diarmuid Mullins’s lads trailed by three in the closing stages at the TUS Gaelic Grounds before seeing Gavin O’Brien’s ambitions effort hit the corner of the net ahead of John Ross O'Reilly sailing over the winning score in the 63rd minute.
Tipp, chasing a record 23rd title, had been 0-7 to 0-4 up when marksman Chris Dunne hammered in their goal in the 24th minute.
The home side recovered well from the goal concession, with Shane Waters (free) and Conor Kennedy swapping points before Waters tucked away a penalty in first-half injury-time which left it at 1-8 to 1-5 when the sides went in at the break.
Eamonn O’Sullivan and Waters hit points early in the resumption that left the minimum in it, but the Premier pulled clear again thanks to the scores of Chris Dunne (2, 1 free) and KJ Dunne.
Limerick would twice get back within a point of their opponents, but Tipp looked like they’d done enough once Kennedy had a point backed up by KJ Dunne as this decider ticked into injury-time.
What came next was a sensational goal from O’Brien, who caught Tipp off guard with his goal effort (watch below), drawing his team level for the first time since the fifth minute and the last score would see O'Reilly holding his nerve to secure the Irish Press Cup for the Treaty County.
