Kerry are there to be beaten on Sunday, IF cavan have the guts to take them on. I don't think their midfield is anything special, David Moran is not playing nearly to potential and none of the players paired with him have stood out to date. A day for Mckiernan to step up and dominate.
Their defence is quite inexperienced especially if killian young is out. Unsettle them early and you never know. I would be playing dilon for a goal threat. that could be key.
Both teams cough up a lot of scoreable frees. Cavan have to do better at cutting these out but kerry missing Donoghue don't have a high percentage free taker anyway. So err on the side of getting stuck in hard.
If we are still within 2 or 3 points by half time it's game on. Looking forward to this one - 2 league points to stay in Breffni.

Think the game is at 2pm to facilitate Kerrys long journey home..

Johnson is still capable of kicking a score, and our poor shooting in the first half almost had us buried against Mayo.

The ball doesn't tend to stick with Madden as a target man, so if we're playing direct ball in, we need to move him out the field. I thought mcvitty drifted inside very well a couple of times, including for the goal.

1 major improvement I hope to see is some a strategy for the kickout- the backs have to move to create space!"
The ball stuck witj Madden versus Mayo but his execution poor. Johnson has looked way of pace in league and maybe Dillon would be a better option.

I agree the we have a chance. however I don't agree about moran. I thought in the tough slog in kerry last Saturday night he was excellent. I rate Gearoid's all round game but as a midfielder I think Moran would take him to the cleaners. I hope im wrong

Madden was winning lots of ball against Mayo, infact i'd say he probably won nearly everything that came in on a one on one. His shooting was poor because he has no left foot. Johnston our supposed biggest threat was hogging the right hand side. In my opinion Johnston should be dropped and allow Madden to play on the right hand side so that he can turn straight on to his right foot and shoot. Dillon is a good shout, he can take a score, he's brave and most importantly he can win his own ball.

I fully agree with you weanling I think dillion carries more of a treat than Johnston he's strong and direct. No doubt about it Johnston was a fabulous footballer in his day he's too easy marked out of it now.

omg, how can you say that about David Moran. IMO he has been the best midfielder in Ireland bar none in the last 3 or 4 years.

Yes we can win this game. Smash into them at every opportunity and have the confidence to take them on when we have the chances. Look, Kerry are blazing a trail at underage at the moment and may become a super team but that selection named are no world beaters. If monaghan and mayo can take them at home then yes we can beat them in our back yard. If we don't allow them engage in the antics that they seem to dish out when under pressure then we will win this game.

I agree after last week's brave performance we could win this. Spine of the team looks good. We need speed comin outta defence and hit them hard on the breaks. No crazy shots givin possession away. Expect to see a few changes comin in , the pressure is on for tomorrow. Mc Gleenan for King of Cavan if he gets this one right. Good match ups disciplin in the tackle fast breaks fitness and fresh legs at the right time. Beat Kerry in division 1 can't wait for this one.

It would be great to win tomorrow, but Kerry have a history of coming good in the league as soon as there is a chance they could be relegated. So for that reason I can't see us winning this one, especially as our home record is abysmal.

Correct. But much of the reason for that is The facade of invincibility that follows kerry in the league. Yes their record is excellent but they are not invincible and are suffering from a bad run of injuries. Let's get at them and show that previous years count for nothing. The very least we must hope for is that we don't let them rough arm us in our own ground.

You haven't seen too many then.the 2 Dublin midfielders and CCavanagh of Tyrone amongst others are way better than him.
He can't even hold a regular place down..

Who are these 2 Dublin midfielders? Coz only Fenton holds down a regular place. And he's not been playing the past 4 years.
Cavanagh plays sweeper in the bigger games.

Conventional wisdom says so, and his natural talent us beyond doubt. But he needs an Anthony maher type player beside him to do the grunt work. Not so sure he can run the show on his own. Cavan need a clever marking plan but Moran is controllable.
I hope I'm not eating my words tomorrow evening...

Is there out and out midfielders in the modern game nowadays??
Mc Cauley does a lot more work than Moran and is very versatile.
Fenton was in the running for player of the year last year.
There a lot more to playing midfield that high catching... and that's really all Moran can do.

Well done lads, a lot of pride was shown today. Some work rate and it looks like McGleenan is starting to make the right calls at the right time
