Where is Thomas Edward Donahue? I felt that he changed the first few early Ulster games in our favour and that without his impact we wouldn't have made an Ulster final, he was very hard done by not getting on in Ulster final or against the dubs and no sign of him on the 26 this year

Best of luck to the lads today. Think this type of game, where most people don't expect a win, is where we play better I feel. Hoping Mickey has something up his sleeve too, even with the injuries. Maybe Longford might do us a favour too. Come on lads!

Good first half, we have the beating of them even without holla, Gerry, Thomas, James etc . Derry poor at times despite all the hype about their 2 emphatic league wins. A game like this is exactly what we need before Omagh

Derry have looked comfortably the better team so far in second half

So much for the poster saying Fermanagh would hammer Longford. Since when did Fermanagh have the firepower to hammer teams

Ulster Champions my arse.
We've learned nothing, same defensive frailties.
Never say die attitude still there all the same.
Tyrone will hardly be quaking in their boots.
We should have been pushing for promotion, not looking at relegation.

Quite harsh on a number of fronts, even though I'm brutally disappointed myself. Our North group was far harder than the other one, in that the Northern teams had a huge head start with training and games 4 weeks before us, as evidenced by our first day out against Fermanagh. They're no great side yet scraped in by a huge amount of luck, the kind of luck that we didn't have. Injuries haven't helped either. And it's a quirk this year in that you can be so close in 3 games with a decent score difference, yet it's promotion or relegation playoffs based on so few games. We also have a manager who targets the championship, and uses the league to develop. It wasn't all bad, and let's just see where we are when championship does come around

It's the league. .

As much as we should be getting out of division 3, it's clear to see from certain aspects of our play/selection that we've used it to prime ourselves for 3 weeks time.

Derry have no championship aspirations so this and next weekend will have been the exact point of the season they'll have targeted to peak on. And they still needed us to be denied a penalty to get over the line.

We were in this position last year heading into the championship. . .

Its embarrassing to say the least that we haven't managed to get promoted, especially when we consider that Fermanagh team more than likely will go up.
I think we will be stronger when we get players back. If we get a team as close to that from the Ulster final we will give Tyrone a good crack. but will we beat them? I just cannot see it happening.. looks like it might be a very flat year.
I taught a lot of the guys on the fringes of the starting 15 didn't do themselves any favours today. We are no closer to knowing our inside forward line. McGovern has a touch of class about him and he will be a very important player when he gets older and fill out a bit more. The rest of the lads who have been tried out inside haven't put their hand up enough. Conor Smith against Longford looked excellent but apart from that there has been little to get excited about.

Disappointing. Why not have Galligan on at half time, keeping players wrapped up in cotton wool for an Ulster championship is ridiculous, when we are now in a play off to get relegated to Div 4. We went from a high of winning Ulster to a defeat away from been in Div 4 .

Different championship this year played in the summer to a soft pitch in winter. Cavan are way too open and have a lot to do.

And why do you say Derry have no championship aspirations? Maybe they want to go into championship on confidence. it's a short season so make the most of it

Ah I don't see what is it we are trying to play.
Defensively we are terrible. Too many running up the pitch and not able to defend.
All individuals.
GMAC offers nothing when he is being man marked goes hiding.
Inside we have no ball winner madden lynch Ted Conor Smith McGovern not full forwards we can work off.
The manager has not built on last year. I hope he has something else for Tyrone but at the minute it doesn't look good

Trophies are the name of the game, and we lifted the USFC last year, a great achievement.

But we seriously need to start taking the league seriously. We are facing 3 successive relegations, this is shocking stuff.

Ah come on, we're not. It's a ridiculous format that we are in a playoff with 2 tight losses and a win, while Fermanagh fall over the line to a promotion playoff. It's a truly a silly year and setup. We'll easily stay up, but please don't present it like a normal year. It's not usual

Galligan will be full forward. Great to see him back and hopefully he can get at least an hour next week.

We do need more defensive cover but that's a simple tactical move. We have it in our armour.

For those who said the opposition in Div3 would be cannon fodder for Cavan are left with a lot of egg on their faces... I said it before and I'll say it again... we are playing Div3 football for a good reason and it's because this Cavan team is not very good... We will be preparing for Championship football by playing the might of Wicklow while Tyrone are operating at the highest level.... This will mean only one result when the 2 sides meet in the Ulster Championship...

Just like last year, which was the only reason Cavan won ulster..a silly season, silly setup, silly time of the year. It'll be normality resumed this year.

Come on lads stop the damn moaning - are we real Cavan supporters or just fair weather supporters. See the facts we have at least five of our top players out with injuries, no county could live with that. Last year's half back line are nearly all hospital cases and yesterday we still held a team that had thrashed all before them to two points. Our full forward line is a worry but l do believe that Madden and PEIRSON are worth persevering with until the younger players mature a bit. Stop whinging about G,MAC when he is been man marked it's an opportunity for others to prosper.
COME ON THE BLUES!!!

are you seriously suggesting that Derry were lucky to win that match ?. The ref favoured us the whole game and even gave us a few extra minutes at the end and we couldnt use that to our advantage. We couldnt handle McGuigan, mcKinless, glass and orhers. When they ran at us down the middle we hadnt the legs... maybe Derry are fitter at this stage but to suggest that they have no championship ambitions is really insulting and downright wrong. Fermanagh were lucky to equalise in injury time otherwise it would have been us playing for promotion (with one win ) and Fermanagh in a relegation
