Heard there's up to 25 clubs in Cavan looking for managers for 2020. It seems to be just a merry go round now, 1 season then move on. A better question would be What Clubs are keeping their managers for 2020 !!!

This should not be allowed within the county, meadal hunting we call it, cavan gales wouldn't have won championships without forde,or lyng either, transfer outside the county if your medal hunting

Totally agree.

McKiernan would not even have to travel up to Swad during the week until August onwards as he would be training with the county, so the commuting and living in Cavan town is not a valid excuse in my eyes.

I dont mind so much the likes of Ramor and Castlerahan fighting over Guards and blow ins from other counties who have come to live in Cavan, these lads that want to play ball here have to play for someone and may the best offer win, but in the McKiernan instance, the fact that he was initially going to move to the up and coming Crosserlough who look sure to win a c'ship in the coming years,.

The county board allowing this transfer to go through sets a very bad precedent and could start a trend for more and more county players and medal hunters as you put it, to start moving to Senior clubs, making the smaller clubs smaller, and the bigger clubs bigger, year on year now going forward.

We are all entitled to our opinions and rightly so but not much thought gone into the above post,

Won't have to travel to swad till August, i presume you mean by that when cavan will be out of the championship, although they have been put out this years championship on the 6-7-19 and 30-6-18 unless you know they last time they played into August?
Was there much talk of the kerry player living in virginia but playing for castlerahan or the others players around cavan that transferred to other clubs in cavan.

Your clearly guessing on what you think you know and dont know and you clearly dont know much , so driving from where he is currently living to xlough passing 3 senior clubs that wouldn't make sense wouldn't it. Do more research on your posts would be ideal, xlough offer wasn't much ...

I'd say after this year he knows he'll never win anything with Cavan, so I don't begrudge the lad a chance to win a senior championship medal.

My post was more or less mentioning that Kerry player amongst others without specifically citing an exact case. As I said, lads like him have to play somewhere and I have no problem.

I dont think it makes much sense to drive to Xlough either, but thats where he was heading and thats why I mentioned it.

You dont need to explain how stupid it would be for him to drive past 3 clubs to me either.

You probably have a personal involvemnet in this one and are trying to defend the transfer, but defending it badly as your post makes no sense other the fact that you are correct in saying that Cavan do generally exit the c'ship in July, rather than August.

No thankfully i have no involvement with both parties, just a fan of cavan football, but i wish them both luck for whatever the choose.
Again it's up to them the player to do whatever the want to do, was it right for a drung player to go to ballyhaise, similar to what we are talking about.

Then what did you mean he won't have to go back to swad till august? but xlough was one of two clubs that did approach the player,am sure he wanted to play with them as you said thats where he was heading, again i have nothing against them but the last 10 years what have the achieved at the top table in cavan club football.

Bit sad that you use the words blow ins and Guards I don't understand the difference if they the guards or coming from another county. Your words blow ins "how ffing pathetic".
They should be welcomes and embraced if they can improve a club or clubs by their presence. Check the history of Cavan and the clubs in Cavan who have done well with some quality players that came to their clubs from another country or county. You know what clubs that have done well by these new additions and I for one welcome them into the County. Before you mention my county with so called runner ins I had no problem then and I don't now either.
Regarding McKiernan it's strange that he passes at least seven clubs to play for Crosserlough but it's his decision so one that one has to live with it. Gallagher traveled from Fermanagh to register for Crosserlough and I am not sure he even played a game for them I stand corrected. A Forde M Lyng came to the gaels they improved by playing with a strong club and Cavan gained from them, So why not allow the quality players sign with senior clubs if it's going to benefit the county in the end.
Welcome these players if they have quality and improve club and county and also welcome McKiernan's move to a senior club of his choice. You say medal hunting when did Crosserlough last win a senior title I think around twenty years so if adding him to their future plans gains a senior title good luck to them.

For a player of McKiernans talent he might never have played Senior Club football. He could have moved to Butlersbridge and helped them win a Intermeduate as he lives there.
The system they have in Kerry allows the Junior and Intermediate players compete against the best in the County. It showed a Divisional team playing Last week on RTE and they performed well.

He's better off playing Ramor, Castlerahan, Gowna. Then in the Junior Championship facing walkover games v Maghera and Corlough.

I know the county board should just get rid all the junior and intermediate clubs they are only in the way. Only good players should be allowed to play football and gaa is not here to promote Gaelic games. It's the best and get rid of the rest

Don't be getting sensitive I didn't say get rid . When complaining about the County team maybe think the Club format could be better. Cork had a Divisional team playing today in the final against Nemo. David Clifford plays Senior Cahmpionship for a Divisional team, East Kerry.
