I was specifically referring to Seanorinn's comment that we should be hammering Tipperary. If people think that then they are delusional. There is nothing in our recent performances compared to Tipp's that demonstrates that we should be hammering Tipp. If you think we should be hammering Tipp then why did we not hammer Offaly. and this business of if only this guy didn't get sent off and if only this and if only that doth butter no parsnips. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5520 - 28/06/2017 14:18:08 2006875 Link 0 |
Gerry Smith apparently out with hamstring trouble according to McGleenan in Irish News. Did it scoring that great point on Sunday which showed the range of his abilities, pace and directness, something I was hoping we would see more of from him and the team. Who does this give an opportunity to? Probably go with Ciaran Brady or Murray if Clarke starts, maybe Connolly from the start? breffni47 (Cavan) - Posts: 34 - 28/06/2017 14:36:27 2006896 Link 0 |
Replying To blueman1903: "We should have beaten Derry only f Flanagan went and got himself sent off before halftime, and Derry and Tipp was a very tight game, a point in it. And yes if we want to do anything we have to be winning these games, good job your not the manager, no lads we won't win this game because the beat a team by a point that beat you by a point last year, pack up and give up for the year" I was specifically referring to Seanorinn's comment that we should be hammering Tipperary. If you read the majority of posts on here many are off the opinion we are the bees knees hence my post. Look what Dublin did to Westmeath and if we think we are any good we should have hammered Offaly. Should management pick the right team we will handle Tipp no problem's if not well that's a different story???' The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 28/06/2017 14:54:38 2006915 Link 0 |
I would have no problem bringing Killian on if the game was in the melting point but what was the point when we were comfortable. He also done a full warm up with lots of contact. Gerry another hamstring injury which shows they are over training players and no proper recovery. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 28/06/2017 15:16:18 2006929 Link 0 |
Sean, how about posting what you mean, rather than posting something and then telling others to read between the lines? Is this on advice from your solicitor, given your position at Breffni Park? Skelling (USA) - Posts: 289 - 28/06/2017 17:30:46 2007019 Link 0 |
I'm not Sean.

Division 3 - NFL - March 26th 2017 @ Semple Stadium. Tipperary 0-12 Louth 0-16. Do we need to have a chat with the Louth ex manager to see how he came up with a game Plan to get the above result? upandcomingblue (Cavan) - Posts: 37 - 28/06/2017 20:56:03 2007117 Link 0 |
Where do I pit the Cavan team based on current form? I would say somewhere from 9th to 12th. Behind Galway and Kildare and maybe even down and cork. Very close to Tipp. There'll be very little in it on Saturday week. Home advantage will hopefully see us through. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5195 - 28/06/2017 23:16:49 2007179 Link 0 |
The cliche's are alive and well here. I am still getting over Goldricks buttering of parsnips!! Seriously though, I think this is a perfect game for us to gain a head of steam moving forward. If we can put in a good performance, get some more forwards on the score sheet and win without the usual heart attack in the last 10 minutes then i'll be more than happy. I think after this round, there is not all that much between teams on a given day and we can still make a 1/4 or semi final. Brady for Smith is a simple replacement, id keep Buchanan in the middle and Gearoid on the '40. Time for Johnston, McDermott, McVeety, etc to put down a marker and show their worth by scoring from play! Tipp won't be coming with a blanket defense, that's for sure - they'll be coming to match up and will come to win! Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 29/06/2017 08:25:13 2007245 Link 0 |
I'd agree with that between 9-12 but I don't think we are close to tipp on championship form. I'd rate us along side Armagh and Westmeath . We can create a shock result on our day but we blow hot and cold. We seem to lack belief if we get ahead in games against so called better opposition. This will be a big test against Tipperary. A win could do wonders for morale. We are both Div 2 sides now but I'd rather beat them in the championship to set a marker for the league. Being a betting man ,2/1 tipp looks like the bet of the championship so far. Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 29/06/2017 09:19:38 2007269 Link 0 |

"Cliches (with an apostrophe) in full force". You then proceed to mention: -.......gain a head of steam...... -.........not much between the teams....... -.........on a given day....... -........put down a maker.. -.........show their worth..... Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts:66 - 29/06/2017 09:19:38 2007269 Cavan were a division 1 team and Tip a division 3 team so to be honest Cavan have to be out and out favorites. Tell you one thing I would have no worries about facing that diabolical Cork team with no plan A let alone a plan B no understanding of each other total rubbish. This short kick out crap is just miserable. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 02/07/2017 19:39:58 2009165 Link 0 |
