I agree, no rear. This team needs to get more rootless

We will struggle to beat Tipperary wait and see. Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 27/06/2017 10:39:09 2006189 Link 0 |
I am worried about this one. I think Quinlivan got a bad injury and definitely came off on a stretcher but not sure if it was a cruciate or not. He is a fantastic player and would take some watching but, to be fair to our back line, not many have run riot against us this year. Killian Clarke and Rory Dunne have done very well - credit where credit is due. Having watched Tipp last year, id be really worried about midfield and I wonder if we can hold our own there. We will need McVeety even fitter and a similar tally from Gearoid. Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 27/06/2017 11:07:04 2006207 Link 0 |
100% Sean, this cavan team need to get ruthless and play with intensity, they could do it in bursts against Offaly. Need to keep the foot down. Or there football days will pass them and have done nothing.

So you are comparing Tipp to the likes of Ofally,Leitrim,Waterford etc. That is being downright disrespectful. They reached an all-Ireland semi-final last year which we haven't done since 1997. They will play in the same division as us next year. they only lost to Cork by a point after losing their main man on 19 minutes. They have some great players at their disposal despite losing so many to injury and other reasons. If you think we should be "hammering" them you are sadly mistaken. They beat Derry last year who beat us. It is a 50/50 game.

We should have beaten Derry only f Flanagan went and got himself sent off before halftime, and Derry and Tipp was a very tight game, a point in it. And yes if we want to do anything we have to be winning these games, good job your not the manager, no lads we won't win this game because the beat a team by a point that beat you by a point last year, pack up and give up for the year

I thought Johnson was havin one of his better games so couldn't understand his removal. Surprised at Injured Mc Enroe and Clarke played, obvious neither one fit enough to play. Reilly also looks injured. The replacement of Moynagh needed to happen, don't think Murray made much difference there two very similar players. shannon414 (Cavan) - Posts: 228 - 27/06/2017 16:28:27 2006394 Link 0 |
Yeah was right. Was getting on ball because he came out field and got on handy ball and layed of but contributed nothing in his actual position. Maybe Clerkin should have being of before him though.

He was standing in midfield watching Offaly players sprint past him. How you think he had a good game is beyond me. Now in his defence, why was he asked to stand out in midfield in the 1st place. He either plays 20 meters and closer from opposition posts or not at all. Removal of moynagh was stranger.

When there a negative comment on Johnston to be made you can be sure Fredflint will be right in there having a go like his been doin since Seanie returned. And that's the Fredflint that said SH would never play for Cavan again... Bring back the defensive messiah I say Fredflint! Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 27/06/2017 19:04:15 2006462 Link 0 |
Moynagh was taking off after the yellow card.He scored a nice point but wasn't playing particularly good. Centre back isn't his position, we never found anyone to replace toasty there. I think his best posistion would be starting at half forward and givin the roaming role to be the link man between backs and forwards similar to what he was doing with the U21s with great success, I think that's what Mattie is trying to get Clerkin to do but I don't think he is just strong enough yet to do that, Faulkner is the ideal person for Centre back just as Mc Kieranan is perfect for Centre forward. Probably with a bit of tweaking to posistion in the team I think we would be more of a treat going forward .

Who is our best Center half-back? This is a very important position. He must be strong and mobile. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 27/06/2017 20:20:33 2006488 Link 0 |
That midfield is not mobile at all.

Faulkner centre back because he can read the game . That's a must for a centre back.

If you have Dunne for full back then Clarke can do a good job at cut back. Moynagh is better as an out and out sweeper but he is still a fine committed player. As for inandaroundthehouse, at least I didn't create a new username to get back on here. If you think Johnson played well just give an example of how. For me he hasn't done anything in two games. Not even one shot at the posts from play in either game.

Ankle. Bruised ligaments, nothing broken, so not as bad as it initially looked. Might well be back but it will be touch and go. To me it's a 50:50 game, can't see how it could be anything else. Maybe it's a bit of the football snobbery coming out in people- Tipperary, hurling county, don't do football- but they are a big upgrade on Offaly and they have the weapons to take advantage of our wastefulness in converting dominance to the scoreboard. Look at Derry last year. We dominated for 40-50 minutes, should have been out of sight at HT but they bet us playing 10 minutes of football with McGuckin and Lynch virtually beating us on their own. We have a lot of question marks over us and while a decent side are vulnerable in many areas. We don't like strong direct forwards. We have problems at CHB and midfield and we don't have forwards guaranteed to put the points up on the scoreboard. Moynagh, to me, does not belong in the centre. Faulkner is the obvious choice but it's still another experiment at this stage going into an important championship encounter. Maybe the reports from Tipp are correct and they are in bad shape but they could just as easily be laying it on. And a decent Tipp team would be just exactly the type of team we have great difficulty in dealing with. Hopefully it clicks for us and we can get a bit of a run this year but I'm a bit nervous about this one.

It's in various new media this morning, Quinlivan is definitely out with his ankle injury. Unfortunate for the lad, in fairness it would have been good to see him play. You want to see the best players on the field and try to beat the best in front of you. However, we should now be definitely winning this, now that they have lost their talisman. Looking at the other B round qualifiers, and a potential game against Ulster and Leinster provincial losers, there is definitely a quarter final in this team if they can get a run together. I don't know about any other posters but it's worrying when you see an injured player coming on and you can see other players carrying injuries on the field. Virginia (Cavan) - Posts: 101 - 28/06/2017 09:52:20 2006677 Link 0 |
In Fairness he said that Seanie was being played out of position. At least he didn't hope a couple were injured so they wouldn't start. That's negative and nasty. You are a clown my man.
