Galbally lose appeal as Tyrone SFC exit confirmed

Galbally Pearses have lost their appeal following last weekend’s disputed one-point defeat to Trillick in the 2026 Tyrone senior football championship.

Trillick - who remain on course for a fourth successive final appearance - registered nine of the last ten scores in the first-round knockout encounter at Carrickmore on Saturday to prevail by the minimum margin, 0-19 to 3-9, but the losers were unhappy over an incident in the 48th minute when a Ronan Nugent point was ruled out after the linesman brought the referee’s attention to a foul that took place in the lead-up to that score.

The score was chalked off and play resumed with a Trillick free.

Galbally opted to appeal the outcome but the Tyrone CCC has rejected their request to have the result overturned.

2023 champions Trillick were subsequently paired with Errigal Ciaran in a mouth-watering quarter-final which will now go ahead – a repeat of the 2023 and 2024 finals (one win apiece) and also of last year’s semi-final meeting, which the Macartans won to dethrone the then holders before losing a second successive final by a point (to Loughmacrory).
