Termon have a point to prove against Murphy and Glenswilly

Termon travel to Glenswilly on Sunday evening aiming to turn the tables on their hosts when the sides meet for the second time in this year’s Donegal SFC.

When the teams faced off at Páirc Naomh Columba in the first round of the competition on August 8th, the home contingent secured a 0-19 to 0-17 victory over their neighbours which was instrumental in seeing them through to the preliminary quarter-final stage and this weekend’s massive rematch.

Top scorer Ryan McFadden (0-8) and John James Sweeney pointed for Termon to leave the minimum between the sides that day with time almost up but, with Michael Murphy slotting seven points in total, Glenswilly just about got over the line in a closely-contested derby.

Caolan McDaid’s men reached the last twelve when drawing at home to Dungloe last weekend – in a game where they led by ten points at one stage – and will be seeking a more consistent display as the championship goes into knockout territory.

Adding a little extra spice to the big derby is the fact that the same two sides will also meet this evening in a Division 1B reserve championship preliminary quarter-final, Termon with home advantage for that one.
