A motion calling for "equitable promotion, media coverage and commercial support" across inter-county men’s and ladies football, hurling and camogie was passed at the GPA’s AGM this week.
The AGM was held online where all nine motions covering areas including equality across Gaelic games, player welfare, governance reform, expenses for female players and stronger representation for athletes within the evolving integrated structures of Gaelic games were passed overwhelmingly.
Submitted by Fermanagh hurler Ben Corrigan, the ‘Equitable Promotion Cross Code’ motion read that the GPA “adopts and advocates for a policy of equitable promotion, media coverage, and commercial support across inter-county hurling, camogie, and football, in collaboration with the GAA, LGFA, and Camogie Association.”
In his annual address to members, GPA chief-executive Tom Parsons described integration within Gaelic games as “one of the most significant opportunities within Gaelic games” and “a defining moment for our association and for the future of our games.”
He added: “A unified structure allows us to present a stronger, more compelling proposition to partners, sponsors and broadcasters.”
The AGM also elected former Limerick camogie player Sophie O’Callaghan onto the GPA national executive committee in place of Hannah Looney.
