Tyrone joined Cork, Louth and Galway in the All-Ireland senior football championship quarter-finals thanks to a thrilling 0-22 to 1-18 win against Mayo this afternoon.

In the end, it was goalkeeper Niall Morgan’s free from along the flank with just over 90 seconds remaining that sepearted the sides in Omagh, sending the Red Hands into the last eight and the Westerners into tomorrow morning’s Round 3 draw.

In a game which saw the teams level 10 times, Conn Kilpatrick’s point left it at 0-8 apiece at the end of the first-half and it was Mayo that looked to have the upper hand midway through the second period once Kobe McDonald’s two-pointer was backed up by a Darragh Beirne goal.

Jordan Flynn and Ryan O’Donoghue raised white flags afterwards to wipe out a brace by Darren McCurry at the other end, but Malachy O’Rourke’s men would get it level once more with back-to-back points from Teague and substitute McCurry, who finished with 0-6.

Ryan O’Donoghue (free) and Morgan (‘45’) swapped scores down the home stretch ahead of Sam Callinan moving Andy Moran's side back in front as the clock winded down at Healy Park.

The hosts would get an opportunity before time elapsed though and it was Morgan that took it with this superb effort (watch below):
