Meath manager Robbie Brennan was full of praise for Jack O’Connor after his man of the match performance against Tyrone.
The Curraha attacker, who missed out on last year’s surprise run to the All-Ireland SFC semi-finals due to overseas travels, scored 1-8, including four stunning two-pointers as the Royals ran out 3-24 to 2-22 winners at Croke Park to leave themselves within touching distance of promotion from Division 2 of the Allianz Football League ahead of next Sunday’s final round trip to Tullamore to face an already-relegated Offaly.
“It (scoring two-pointers) is one of our strengths and there’s so much space in Croke Park, it can be hard to shut down,” Brennan said in the Croke Park media room.
“Jack had a bit of a field day there for a while and kept us in it, and papered over a few cracks in that first half. There were other chances there as well which we didn’t finish.
"I would think every one of our forwards are very different from each other. Very few of them are similar in what they do and how they play the game so I think that gives the opposition lots of different headaches.”
He added: "I think it's massive for us in a weird sort of way that Jordan (Morris) was held scoreless from play, because Tyrone did really well on him, but the fact that Jordan was held like that and we were still able to score and looked strong up front, that was really good."
