Wexford manager Keith Rossiter looks set to be without ace attacker Rory O’Connor for the majority of the 2026 season.

The Irish Independent reports that the St Martin’s forward will miss “most, if not all” of the forthcoming campaign for the Slaneysiders as he gets set to go travelling in the new year, including a stint in Australia.

The news comes as a blow to Rossiter’s squad with O’Connor having been in exceptional form for both club and county in 2025, with St Martin’s having secured back-to-back Wexford SHC titles for the first time in October before going on to dethrone All-Ireland champions Na Fianna and Ballyhale Shamrocks on route to Leinster glory.

Wexford begin their 2026 campaign against Laois in the Walsh Cup on Sunday week, January 4th, with the winners of that game to face either Dublin or Carlow in the competition’s quarter-finals four days later.

The Model men are scheduled to open their Allianz League Division 1B campaign at home to Davy Fitzgerald’s Antrim side on January 24th.
