Cork are a win away from their first All-Ireland senior hurling championship title in 20 years after blowing away Dublin with an emphatic 7-26 to 2-21 victory a Croke Park this evening.

Before a packed house at headquarters, Pat Ryan’s men struck three goals in the opening 14 minutes and added four more after that to ensure there’d be no upset like the one which Limerick suffered at the hands of the capital men two weeks ago.

Brian Hayes and Alan Connolly (2) fired in the Munster champions’ goals during the opening quarter, with Cian O’Sullivan getting one back for the Dubs’ before another from Hayes late in the half left the scoreboard reading 4-13 to 1-12 at the break.

Patrick Horgan and Diarmuid Healy increased the Leesiders lead with early second-half points, and while Fergal Whitely pulled one back for the Leinster men, the Rebels would be 15 points clear once Tim O’Mahony crashed in their fifth goal in the 42nd minute.

Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s charges did get another goal back via O’Sullivan, the victors kept the goals coming with O’Mahony grabbing a second prior to Connolly completing his hat-trick with five minutes left in normal time.

Ryan’s men now gear up for their second consecutive All-Ireland SHC final on July 20th when they’ll face the winners of tomorrow's showdown between Kilkenny and Tipperary at Croker (4pm).
