Christy Ring Kildare V Kerry

(Oldest Posts First)

Any thoughts on this one?

Kerry are very strong but I think now is the time for our hurlers to make their mark. It'd be a huge win and really lift hurling in the county. Gerry Keegan is as good hurler you'll see anywhere. Hurling is on the up. We have a good minor team and are starting to produce some quality players who should be able to mix it with the Antrims,Carlows and Laois's. That's the next step and target for us I think.

We beat them in Newbridge last year but it will be a tough ask going down to Tralee

Not so sure about this years minor hurling team, murdered by Kilkenny, just beat Carlow who were murdered by Offaly who in turn were murdered by Laois.

They were 3/1 to beat Carlow and the Kilkenny result is hardly surprising. They will go well now in the All Ireland B Championship and should be looking to win that outright.

KK will probably go onto win the leinster A.

We conceeded 3 or 4 really soft goals against KK which didnt help the scoreline.

Starting to beat Carlow at this level is huge. The goal for Kildare hurling is to get up there with the likes of Carlow and a few other fringe teams in the Liam McCarthy.

It's not an impossible task.

Was at both Carlow and Kilkenny minor matches. Some very good hurlers on the team especially Dempsey, Kenny and O'Hehir but overall impression was the lack of fitness levels of some Kildare players competing at this level. If the seniors belive, they will beat Kerry, excellent group of lads.

Heres hoping the seniors can make good on their progress of late.Hurling needs a lift in the county. Its the small but critical aspects of the game that make the difference in the grades of hurling. My own club recently played a Dublin club in a challenge at young age and came out on top. This club is one of the top ones in Dublin .The only difference is the commitment of clubs to hurling.I suppose this is also influenced by the county board who throw good money after bad on the McGeeney project which has yielded little, in my opinion.
