I see Galway minors are fixed to play Clare next Saturday in Portlaoise. Does anyone in GAA headquarters have a map of Ireland. Its a 2 hour drive minimum for Galway supporters ..... further for Clare and Kerry. Galway and Clare opted to toss for home venue but were overruled by head quarters.

The location beggars belief, we saw last year how incompetent the fixtures committee were, one senior figure predicted soccer style violence outside a ground. No consideration for supporters, just a nod to a particular provincial council to keep them happy.

Portlaoise get way more games than it should just because the Leinster Office is there.
The pitch is too short for hurling and the parking situation is dire.
Down the road there is a fine pitch and stadium in Tullamore but they never get a game.
Galway should seek to use Tullamore more as it suits our supporters and is a fine pitch.

Tullamore gets plenty of games. We usually play Kilkenny there. On another note, we have the one and only Cathal McAllister reffing. Lucky us.

Starting three points down with McAllister reffing but we should get through this game. McDonagh and Greg Thomas are a different level.

Good to see a lot of representation on this team from smaller clubs like Carnmore and Ballygar. Can only strengthen hurling in the weaker parts of the county.

The Ballygar link is more to do with a hurling bloodline from Kiltormer and a famous uncle who played for Galway.
