Evan Murphy

(Oldest Posts First)

I see he's signed a contract with Galway Utd until the end of the season but presumably a good chance he will get a new one after that. A serious talent on the football field but he's always been very good at the soccer too. Looks like he's chosen the soccer for the time being anyway. Think he had a good chance to be in the senior football squad next season had he been available.

Galway Utd are a shambles. I don't think he choose soccer over football. Contracts in League of aireland is just a buzz word as very little of them receive any money and the ones that do it's very little.

Ive played with Evan Murphy many times and I have to say he is a phenomenal athlete. They would only let him compete in 2 events in sports day because hed win everything. Unbelievably fit strong and is the best kickpasser of a football ive ever seen. Can kick off both feet and has a footballing brain. Big loss to Galway im telling you hed go right into the senior 15 in 1-2 years if he stayed at it. A freak of a man

He is a serious unit and if he makes it tbe Galway forward line will be special. He has appeared to have struggled with senior football the few times I've seen him but he will come good. If Galway get him, Mulkerrins and Oran Burke from the last few minor teams they will have sorted a couple of players that will be about for a while.

Would be great to see him in the NFL next season for the footballers.
I'm sure he'll be asked in anyway & he'll have a decision to make then.

He's a great prospect. Would already be one of Salthill best players at senior. Was knocking over 45s when he was 16 and has taken frees and penos as a 17,18 yr old last few seasons even with likes of Armstrong around. Has the size and power of a man much older than the 19 he is. Think he won man of match in practically every game as minor for galway last yr and yr before

Whoa there! I suggest you watch the 2016 minor final V Kerry, it might change your opinion.

Remember the game well was cheering him on and he got taking off after a poor performance. He was Galways standout player in the minors that year and the next. One bad day means nothing.. I suppose u must give the footballers no chance because they lost for the first time this year playing badly out of 13 games this year. Damien Comer never even played Minor. Dont write him off over one performance. Ive seen him play 20& times he is good

They lost for the 2nd time this year you mean?
You are correct I give them no chance against Dublin.

Equally writing the guy off after a poor day at the office in that final is hardly fair I would have thought?
He was man of the match in every game in Connacht that season.
He has rough edges to his game but is talented.

Sadly the poor lad suffered a bad leg injury yesterday and was carried from the field against Mountbellew-Moylough in an ambulance. Heres hoping for a speedy recovery.

Don't know what the Injury is But Like a few said - He is a Serious Talent and he would work wonders in the Galway Forward line at the moment with what we have already..
