Replying To cowboysted:  "There either is our there isn't.

The County Board rules at the start of the year stated that two teams would be relegated and the competition would be reduced to 12 teams.

One of the relegation finals was played. And then due to the two teams involved in the other game it hasn't yet be played.

These decisions should be based at the beginning of the year, and not dependent on the teams that end up in a relegation final."
Absolutely cowboysted. I do hope Castlegar try to stay up too.

It is a pure joke. Do the Cashal and Sylane supporters get their money back? Do the players get their mileage money back? Does the young lad that took the day off from work get compensated? Does the lad that canceled his holiday with his ex lady get a new lady? So many questions to be answered....

Are they all staying up or what is the official line? With 14 in it it is still a small number, but they should have asked Sarsfields Jun A if they wanted to go up, and make 3 groups of 5, would make much more sense then 2 groups of 7.

But I actually think it could work better

3 groups of 5 would probably make more sense fixture wise alright to finish the groups, 5 weekends needed instead of 7. Only problem with three groups is how would you sort out your quarter finals? If you went with preliminary quarter finals you might end up with the same amount of weekends needed to finish the two groups of 7 which would 10 weekends total(barring replays of course)

It's unofficially official, both club's maintaining intermediate status. Decision taken on the fact that spiddal couldn't play because of there march in the county championship and now all Ireland football championship. They had a huge amount of dual players. County bd also felt it would not help the game in the West if spiddal went down with neighbouring club's particularly barna furbo struggling at junior A who were in the relegation final.

That's BS from the county board.

First of all Spiddal had a very good chance of winning that came. They beat Rahoon earlier in the competition and ran Eyrecourt very close in the last game.

The real reason was to protect Kilbeacanty, some of the County Board executive's home club.

It's another example of the standards at the top table which need to change drastically.

There's no real issue with either team staying up but other teams would not have been afforded the same grace in that situation.

And why didn't the county board decide on that before the relegation draw was made. Totally unfair on teams that had to play the other game.

At the start of year the county board wanted two teams relegated. 10 months later it's reduced to zero when it suits themselves.

I think In the long term, the Inter champ should be 16 or 15 Teams, it makes a huge difference in having Annaghdown, Sylane , Spideal up there, it can only be good for the county, them clubs going back down to junior is not good longterm.

But it should be cleared up quickly , I don't think many clubs will actually complain .

More teams to be relegated from senior to make up the 16? Or easier for junior club to make the step up, two teams being promoted?
