Under 20'S

(Oldest Posts First)

Under 20s get their campaign underway later today against Offaly in Conleths.

Some good results for this group already this year in the development tournament with over 30 players used. Solid performances against both Dublin and Meath and responded well to going behind against the Dubs and conceding 2 goals in a matter of minutes against Meath after a comprehensive win over Laois in the first group game.

No idea how many Cork have leftover from last year's All Ireland winning team but they've been strong at this level for a number of years now so it was always going to be tough trying to get a win against them a few weeks ago.

Strong midfield partnership in McDermott and O'Connor, both have played all 4 games already this season (albeit O'Connor started 2 of those at fullback) so they will hopefully form a good platform to work off around the middle tomorrow.

Shane O'Sullivan has been on fire up front, averaging just over 8 points per game and Darragh Kirwan has 1-11 to his name in 3 games so they'll more than likely be our main scoring threats again.

Conneely and Browne were both very impressive for the Minor's last year so be interesting to see how they'll find the step up in grade.

A win tomorrow would see us through to a semi final against either Laois or Westmeath, with Dublin and Meath both on the opposite side the draw has been favourable to us and hopefully not a year too soon for some of last year's minor side.

Today's starting 15 as follows;

Cian Burke - Clane
Jack Hamill - Raheens
John Lawlor - Eadestown
Sean Moore - Athy
DJ Earley - Monasterevin
Cian Powell - Celbridge
Jack Collins - Two Mile House
Darren McDermott - Leixlip
Tony O'Connor - Two Mile House
Adam Steed - St Laurences
Darragh Kirwan - Naas
Adam Conneely - Two Mile House
Luke Griffin - Naas
Shane O'Sullivan - Clane
Aaron Browne - Celbridge

Same team announced for tonight's semi final away to Laois.

Did well to come from behind and grind out a narrow win in tough conditions last weekend. You'd hope the extra 2 days rest over a Laois team who played extra team and won with a penalty shootout on Monday night would be a bit of a help.

You'd fancy whoever comes through the other semi final between Dublin and Meath to win Leinster outright but we've a good chance of getting there at least.
