the hurling underdogs was around 2004 or 2005 i think if im correct. They did no worse than their football counterparts in recent years. Eamon Cregan, Cathal Moore and i think pat fluery were the management team. i think Shane mcgrath and Niall corcoran were on the team too, and micheal Grace got a few runs with Kilkenny. Its harder to get a hurling underdogs going as its a far smaller area in the country that plays hurling and the standard at the top level is just light years away from football, so its definitley harder to be competitive in it. plus the fact a lot from smaller hurling counties wouldnt see the point of going to trials.
The Football underdogs should be putting up a better fight...

And one night the team went on an all night bender in Thurles after a practice game. The management were driving around Thurles at 3am trying to round them up!!!

Replying To FoolsGold:  "They probaly need players of a decent standard. A team made up of players who never played County would be hammered by Mayo.

How did they expect to challenge Dublin last year with the team they had..."
That was Dublin's 2nd and 3rd string team they played last year.
Johnny Cooper was the only big name and i think he went off after 20 minutes.

Yes b, but their second or 3rd string would still be very strong. Conor McCugh played in that game last year. He would start for most counties. I think Basquel played too.

Bit of a joke at this stage. In fairness TG4 are very good when it comes to gaa but the underdogs is cringeworthy.

Mickey Fitzsimmons and Eoin Murchan actually started the game too.

Agreed. TG4 give excellent GAA coverage all year round, but the underdogs has moat definitly ran its course.
