GAA really needs Cork to beat Tyrone to avoid two dead rubbers and empty grounds on the Bank Holiday weekend.

They do but they aren't going to get it i feel.

This a poor match up. Tyrone a good scoring team and when fully tuned in don't give away big scores only Dublin have better fitness and conditioning that them. Cork will score high against teams that defend loosely against them, they are poor in defence and ship big scores and their fitness and conditioning is well below the required level for the super 8s.

Can't see past a Tyrone win in this game and the margin of victory could be close to last years game in Portlaoise.

Finally something good for Cork football tonight with a brilliant under 21 victory. We played part of the best minor team that ever played the game and we hammered them. It shows we have talented players and if well coached and confident we can give it a go and win. Saturday might be a step to far but hopefully tonight can inspire the seniors and drive them on. We were 3/1 tonight in a two horse race and look what happened .. Delighted with tonight.. Hopefully Cork football will have a good summer yet

Great for the game. Come on, if both cork and Meath win at least the last day will have some bite.
And can you imagine a situation where dubs have to go to omagh and it a winner takes all for Tyrone??

Aw lad, you would give Kevin McAleer a run for his money. But he's a lot funnier, you're just having delusions of grandeur."
And someone was sure to say, turn it on.

Lads what's the story with Tiernan McCann?? Sure he only got 2 games? Why hasn't he been on Tyrone panel last week?

He wasn't in the 26 but he was there wearing #29 because he was talking to Mickey late on in the game and looked as if they were thinking of bringing him on and then realized they weren't allowed or something of the like.

To be honest since the loss to Donegal, Tyrone have made a fairly substantial personnel change, Rafferty, McDonnell, Richie Donnelly, Tiernan McCann and Padraig Hampsey have all since lost their starting places (albeit Hampsey due to injury and McCann initially due to ban) with Brennan, Hugh pat Mcgeary, Michael Cassidy, Niall Sludden and Darren McCurry taking their places.

Irks me a little bit when pundits criticize Tyrone and Harte to an extent (saying its grand against lesser teams but they'll lose to the big guns) for reverting to old style of play through the qualifiers without even acknowledging the difference the personnel changes have made in the team as well.

I think he just has been dropped to be honest. He wasn't playing well this year it thought. Earlier in the league he didn't suit the type of game Tyrone where playing, it was a more passing game and not the traditional running game which suited McCann perfectly.

I think now though there is a spot for him on the team, they have moved the half back line about a fair bit the last few games with Cassidy, McKiernan, McGeary, Burns, McDonnell all getting chances there. My half back line would be Cassidy, Brennan, McCann

Replying To Game2Halves:  "Cork once had our number, would beat us in the league guaranteed then thump us in championship. Can't understand how they ended up in division 3. I was surprised we beat them last yr so easily and still I'd be worried enough about playing them. Will Tyrone play their open style from the league or is it third time lucky for the 13 men in defence approach ....I'd just love if they mixed it up more because no team will beat Dublin if they don't play a variety of ways. However We are the best of the rest Barr Kerry, Mayo. The current Ulster champions don't even scratch the surface as contenders for the prize of all ireland trophy. Club Tyrone I hear made good takings on the betting odds when Harte played a weakened side against them previous meeting. It explains a lot why Tyrone fielded the worst team all year and treated the game as a friendly. We should win this weekend and get our rightful place in semis."
Ha ha this is brilliant. I thought the excuse for Tyrone getting beat by Donegal was that you didnt bother about the Ulster championship. I didnt realize that Tyrone fielded a weakened team to purposely lose. I suppose I am the mug for taking the bait.

I just got to watch a recording of the Cork and Dublin game and it was really enjoyable. Cork had a real go at it and played very well. You would imagine that Tyrone will have too much for them abd wont allow them to run through them.

Lol you def took the bait. I can see the cork game being alot closer than people think. Year after year tyrone impress against teams outside the top 5 or so. I am waiting for them to beat the top teams when it matters.

Looking forward to the donegal game. They were great against Tyrone but I still cant say if they were that good or if tyrone were that poor. We will find out on sunday I suppose. Have a suspicion that its somewhere in the middle.

Given what Tyrone have won the last two years I'm very surprised by the over confidence on this forum. They aren't the finished article yet and teams that aren't do lose games from time to time

Well, well, well, lots of time left, but what a start from Cork. Half time and ahead by double scores.

Wise up, the ranking is:
1. Dublin
2. Kerry
3. Donegal

Tyrone are a top 5 or 6 team; nothing more than that.

Sorry, was just going off the insistence of a fellow Tyrone poster here who most days declares you're Ireland's 2nd best team.

Cork exposing Tyrone big time. Look physically and mentally beaten already.

The rankings are nonsense.

Its Dublin at one and the rest doing catch up.

Tyrome , kerry and Donegal are nowhere near the dubs.

Kerry or Mayo certainly wont fear them based on this. It shows how poor we are to be beaten so badly by a mediocre side.
