So the first Mullinalaghta v Killoe league game of 2019 would be both a 2019 league game and a 2018 Leader Cup final all rolled into one?

Any word on the missing Leader Cup final of 2018? Is it to become the Shergar of local sport with not even a statement from the Co Board? I think the folks who paid into league games in 2018 deserve some sort of update.

The League game between Killoe and Mullinalaghta originally fixed for this Saturday was supposed to double up as
the Leader Cup Final but then the Senior Championship game Killoe v Abbeylara was postponed due to bad weather - refixed for this Friday in Allen Park. Can't blame the Co Board for bad weather, Mullinalaghta reaching an All Ireland Club Semi-Final and two Club's not finding a suitable dates to play the final. This is all in the public domain so why should the County Board need to issue a statement. Read the local press for a start.

Are you sure about that doubling-up? Not blaming Mullinalaghta or weather in the least, but I was not aware that the 'doubling-up' position you are stating with regard to the ACFL round game for 2019 also being the defacto Leader Cup final for 2018 was public and officially stated knowledge beyond chat in forums such as this. Where was that made official by the county board?

Never mind the Leader Cup final....what I would love to hear an answer on from the CB is, what in the name of god are they making both Abbey and Killoe play the outstanding game for? Never mind the fact both teams have qualified for the QF's but they have already made the draw for the QF's!! Not that positioning mattered. Any chance to squeeze an extra few euro out of it. Lets just hope there is not a serious injury to a player in that game.

While I cannot pinpoint an actual 'official' line on the Leader Cup Final from the county board, both clubs were aware that the league game was the Leader Cup Final as well. It is one of these situations where everybody thought everybody else knew, but obviously not in this case. We may have to have a Public Enquiry after the Leader Cup Final is played , if ever. I would say that there is some Rule to be adhered to which might explain the reason for the Killoe v Abbey game being played.. Check it out.

This would be news to at least one of the clubs involved.

Gotta say I'm pretty sure there is no official line on the next K v M league game doubling up as the 2018 Leader Cup final. Thus begs the question what will happen to that game - It's a pretty important fixture to just forget about. The competition has been running since 1937 and I believe 1938 was only year without a final. Maybe I am not combing thru the newspapers closely enough, but I've not seen anything official yet on it.
