Mayo Ladies Walkout

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Surely the Mayo football public deserve a true account of what has happened with the Ladies this year. As a supporter and volunteer I need to know what the story is or should I just stop supporting or stop volunteering. Stating 'player welfare' when it appears it has nothing to do with player welfare is just sticking a finger up to the public and to the 100s of other players playing in Mayo. Tell us the truth.

There was never an accurate account of the events surrounding the ousting of the senior mens management in 2015 in order to protect the players whom in my opinion were completely out of order and have paid the price since with absolutely no silverware. I get the feeling it will be a similar story with the women

Agreed. Now that the season is over both sides should issue a statement to explain what happened. Its the least that the supporters, fundraisers + volunteers deserve

100% agree with previous postings. If it's "player welfare" does that not concern the remaining players, does that statement not imply that those same players are not concerned about their welfare !!!! Treat supporters with some respect and give the proper reason. I think management should make a statement about what went on as they are coming out the worst in all this.

As an outsider looking in it seemed like a very strange sequence of events, or a strange reason behind leaving. What do mayo people suspect is the issue? Does it relate to one particular top player?

Dont know. Thats why an explanation is needed.

A bunch of players don't like hard discipline and there's a decision made by management for others to come on from the bench and they don't agree with it. Let them off, they let the Mayo team and other players down. Bunch of so so players who think they're Gods gift. That was about it. Fair play to the manager and the players who did play. Up Mayo.

Do You ??? because it would be nice to hear from someone who does, and until the management or county board come out with a proper statement people will fortunately or unfortunately be relaying snippets of what they've heard.

It is known that the players would not make any statement until the team's season had ended. What davittsman said about "hard discipline" etc. is completely false.

And just to make things even more embarrassing, rumours that Carnacon have been removed from the Mayo club championship??

It's official now. The mayo walkout was orchestrated from Carnacon....that has been well known in the ground in Mayo for a few weeks now.

Not good for Ladies football in Mayo.

Good to hear. Player power at its worst has been crushed and its great to see.
Huge respect to the manager who didn't have room for egos.

Nobody seems to have a clue, just you. What I said was indeed absolute fact, no fiction whatsoever in it. I didn't individualise anyone for obvious reasons and now with Carnacon given a boot up the you know where i'm delighted and it's proper order.

The result of the vote from club delegates suggest that there is not alot of love out there for Carnacon. Hopefully the truth will emerge from the June debacle.

I feel sorry for the Carnacon players who are not on the county panel who will be deprived of an opportunity to play after training all year through no fault of their own.

Do you know what happened? What were the player welfare issues. Ridiculous decision trying to ban Carnacon. Players are more than entitled to protest if they're not happy with things.

Players werent happy with criticism they got after a game, some players got on with it but others werent happy. ONE player was told she shouldnt be expecting to start and wasnt happy.
One of the trainers, who is a former mayo player, left because of the attitude of the players who were complaining about the criticism so didn't leave with the players but left because of them.
