Replying To MesAmis:  "Dislike Clones. Never understood people's grá for it as a ground. The terrace along the side of the pitch must be one of worst places in the world to watch a match from. You're miles away form the pitch and the atmosphere just disappears out of the ground. And I've been there when it's full too."
Sure why don't ye play the game I'm portlaoise so?

?????

2 grounds that aren't the best. Plenty of decent grounds out there though.

Replying To MesAmis:  "A packed PP would be great craic.

It won't happen as the 31 counties want their pounds (or euros) of flesh.

If enough other counties want us to play all our super 8 games in Killarney then that is what would happen."
It holds 13.000 thats enough for ST holders from both counties i would imagine with rest on general sale which would be snapped up by Dublin and Donegal fans pretty quick i would imagine.

Although i think the way the S8's works is all the provincial winners will play against each other in "neutral" Croke park over one weekend.

So technically it would be the last game that would be Dublin home game, so wouldn't be against the Ulster Champions in any case. would be the losers of Munster or Connaght or qualifiers. Be some craic for tickets if was Dublin and Mayo in Parnell Park, even Galway or Cork.

I would love it, in fact you cant help but feel disappointed if we end up with two games in Croke park.

If im being very honest, i think a hell of a lot of the super 8 games are going to moved to accommodate crowds even away from the Dublin. so home games, neutral venues will be a principal rather then a rule in my opinion.

Ok if and when it's announced that crokepark will be Dublin's neutral venue and then if it is truly a neutral venue then Donegal should be given half the hill 16 tickets , Donegal should also be given dressing room 1 , and Donegal should be allowed to warm up in front of their fans in the hill,
wouldn't that be the right thing to do?

The reason is revenue. A potential clash between donegal and Dublin could see a full house. Clones would not get half the crowd.

My own view on this is that for now, it is probably going to reap the most gates and therefore there is not going to be an issue over it. If the super 8s are successful this year, then I would expect that the neutral venue will remain Croke park for the dubs.

I think that if gates started to slide, especially if there are more and more dead rubber fixtures on the last day, then this could be looked at again.

It would be interesting next year or the year after if Kerry and Dublin win their respective provinces, or Mayo likewise the following year, whether there could be a toss for the neutral venue. ie Killarney or Castlebar. you are looking at 40000 plus in both grounds. Better again, use Pairc Ui Caomh if it involves Kerry. If the first round games of the super 8s were to slip re attendance, then it would be hard to argue against this.

Finally, anyone who thinks that Parnell park is Dublin's home venue and Croke park not must be living in a fantasy pub quiz land and not the 21st Century. Many of Dublin's players would have been between 6 and 16 years of age when the last championship game was played there by Dublin footballers. So it is a null and void point to say that it is the home venue for Dublin football and Croke park is not.

Big vote of confidence in Donegal for the Ulster final from the Kingdom.

If I'm not mistaken the likely Dublin Donegal game will be played neutrally in Croke Park at 4pm on the 15th which is head to head with the World Cup final. Won't affect proper fans of each county but might cut the number of neutrals who might otherwise attend.

Ha ha yeah id love that, throngs of people from Donegal trying to trade their Hill 16 ticket outside the battle cruiser for one in the stand with Dubs, that happens at every big Dublin championship. I thought Hill tickets were shared.

They are more then welcome to warm upfront of the Hill. Other counties create the fear of the hill. Its becoming great craic at the parade, some teams split from the parade before the hill and we know we won the psychological battle then. If they stick around the Dublin team break and have to run the gaunltet alone. Its a no win.

I wholly agree, dressing team 1 should be given to whoever is visiting, its important to be good hosts.

Replying To riverboys:  "Biggest problem is all teams in the super 8s play 1 home, 1 away and the 3rd game in Croke Park which is a neutral venue, if the GAA decide to have Dublin's neutral game in for example Semple Stadium Thurles then their opponents will complain that they are being cheated out of getting a game in Croke Park before a possible semi final match but a number of counties around the capital could also claim Croke Park as their home ground like Kildare and Meath who regularly play championship matches in Croke Park, (of course Meath are out this year). Most counties will say it's all the sweeter to try and beat the dubs in Croke Park even though majority have failed"
The first game of the super 8s is played in croke park as a double header in each group so straight away every team plays 1 game in croke park.
If for example Dublin ended up in same group as let's say Donegal cork Roscommon then dublin play Donegal in croke park ,travel away to Roscommon in the Hyde while Donegal travel to play cork and then the final game sees Roscommon travel to Donegal and dublin play cork in thurles which is a neutral venue for dublin and still an away game for cork and a big enough stadium to make big bucks for the gaa plenty of capacity for the large number of traveling Dublin fans
I know some Dublin fans and they do love to travel outside of the capital for big away games

When Roscommon won Connacht in 2001 but got beat by Galway in Castlebar in the AI quarter final there was lots of complaints from across the country about how unfair it was they never got to play in Croke Park. Since then every provincial winner has been guaranteed a game in Croke Park.
Interesting to see Clones mentioned as a neutral venue - if Donegal were to play Dublin there it would be Donegals 5th game at Clones this season. If the game is played at Croke Park it would be Dublins 8th game this season there. If it's all about fairness then the neutral venue would have to be Castlebar presumably where neither team would have much advantage.

I had thought it was a home game, away game and a have in Croke Park. When did this neutral venue thing come to light.
I would have thought all along that Dublin would have two games in Croke Park. If Monaghan get to an Ulster Final then it's still in Clones. Likewise either Kerry or Cork are at home for most Munster Finals. I don't see a problem with Dublin playing two games in CP.
My bigger concern would be if teams aren't allowed to have their home game in their county ground if they are deemed too small. Tyrone tried to get our match with them moved from Ballybofey to Clones a few years ago claiming it couldn't hold the crowd.

Donegal have never used Clones as a home ground unlike Dublin's use of Croke park and it's not like they can train there or anything as it's 2 and half hours away. Fermanagh will only have played there once if they win Ulster so finding it hard to make sense of your point.

Castlebar???? How does that make sense geographically? Brefni park or Clones would be fairest in terms of distance travelled to the game.

Don't see much issue with it myself, I just feel for the Dub fans who I know love to travel and they bring a great away contingent to matches. One of the best parts of the League is the away matches, bit of novelty about it.

Thoroughly looking forward to Ballybofey getting a Championship match deep into the summer as well. Always great to have the championship opener there so looking forward to it should we make it to the Super 8s.

HQ hampered by their commitment to season ticket and Parnell Pass holders I should imagine. Not sure how many Dublin ST holders there are but if there are 10K then you add in opposition ST holders and pretty soon you have to guarantee entrance to 15K+ before you even consider everyone else. I would have thought that Thurles or somewhere would work assuming that the Ulster champions didn't object to missing a Croke Park run out.

I'd say most counties would be fine with Croke Park being a neutral venue so long as Dublin aren't the opposition as they have a clear home advantage and it defeats the purpose of having a neutral venue

Hill tickets are always available to anyone who wants them. How do some people still not understand this simple point that has been prove again and again? You're not that slow surely.

Warm up where they want and what's the difference between the dressing rooms in Croke Park? Are some better than others? Like are there no showers in one of them or whats the story?

Dublin will play where the other 31 counties decide.

Dublin don't train in Croke Park either. If playing this game in Croke Park is unfair to Donegal then surely playing it in Clones is unfair to Dublin due to how familiar with that venue Donegal are. In reality I don't think it matters where it's played, the best team wins. The only 2 games Dublin have lost in the last 4 years were both in Croke Park, and it wasn't much advantage to them against Donegal in 2014 either.
