Does the County Board have no Regard for Players when making fixtures?

St Pats players have to travel to belleek on Friday evening, Tempo Players have to travel to Devinish on the same. how are players who work away from the county suppose to make it to these places in time? surely Friday night and all evening games should be between teams local to each other. Why can Belleek not play Garrison? and Tempo Play donagh?

It is completely upsurd. this is an Amateur Sport!!

manowar speaking as a player and I know I speak for many, I can tell you that the Friday or Saturday evening games are preferred to Sunday games as players need a social life too.

I agree with The_Rat, However manowar makes a very strong point that it is unrealistic to expect teams to travel the length of Fermanagh on a Friday nyt.

Games at 3/3.30 on a Sunday really ruins the whole day for everyone. I think games should be played no later than 2pm any sunday. Saturday evening games wouldnt be too bad either but ive heard of some complains of juniors games at 6.30, wasting the whole day to prepare for a game.

This football thing is just a total inconvenience. Cancel the league I say. Just play championship. Over in 4 weeks. Problems solved.

I don't agree with the The_Rat. It's all about commitment and this amateur sport makes for good discipline in one's life. My belief is that the Sunday games does help keep players more committed and prohibiting from drinking at the weekends. I'm not against having a social life but there is a time and a place for it.

I am not against Friday night Games, I think they are a great idea and Senior Games on a sat would be a great thing to, as Senior games at half 3 on a sunday really do wreck player social lives as well as weekend. There are players who could be training friday night, Junior Match Sat and Senior match Sunday. Not much of a weekend?

My Point is that Friday night games should take into consideration Players Jobs and Lives. Asking Players to Travel the length of the county in time for a 7.30 throw in is outrageous. Most teams be there 45 min before the game to prepare. Men are going to have to take short days at work, not to mention it leaves little time for food before a game etc, it leaves the away team at a significant disadvantage when they have to travel so far. and above all else it is not fair on players work and family lives.

Friday Nights games now cancelled by request of County team management.

Why cant these games go ahead as starred games?

Statement from Competitiions Control Committee

This is to officially notify all concerned that SFL 1 & 2 Rd 6, as in the published fixture list of April 24th and scheduled for this Friday May 8th has been postponed by CCC.

CCC wants to make it clear that this situation has been forced upon us by the decision of Senior County Team Management to call a training session on Friday night in direct opposition to these fixtures, whilst making it clear that no county panel member would be available to his club.
CCC also wants to make it clear that, having met with Senior County Team Management on Tuesday March 31st, it was agreed with them to reschedule SFL 1 &2 Rd 6, from its original date of Sunday May 10th to Sat May 9th to facilitate County Team Management.
A subsequent request that the SFL 1 & 2 Rd 6 on 9th May be changed to one for club players only was received from County Management and was considered at a CCC meeting on April 23rd. Since the pairings in the available rounds did not allow this, the meeting decided that Rd 6 be brought back a further 24 hours to Friday May 8th

CCC is trying to maintain a regular flow of games in this early season phase. Clubs, more importantly, have shown the same commitment in their willingness to go with the Games for Club Players.
However, to avoid the difficulties that would arise for clubs in going ahead with the fixtures as set up and as published, SFL 1 & 2 Rd 6 will now be re-fixed at the first available opportunity.

There is now just one guaranteed week-end of senior club football in the remainder of May.

Too much emphasis on county football

1. I wonder if the wishes of the vast majority i.e. club footballers and their supporters are being overruled too much in favour of county football and their management?

2. Since this has a negative effect on club league games and indeed on club footballers themselves, tell what your views are?

Comments:

In division one, Belleek (deservingly) is occupying the top spot and have got very strong this year with Belcoo (lucky), Roslea (under par) and Devenish (late comers) all gaining points for different reasons to claim a place in the top four. Meanwhile, Maguiresbridge (slipping...the penny has dropped), Lisnaskea (not much effort), Tempo (disappointing) and Donagh (weak) all struggle in the relegation zone.

In division two, Teemore (expected), Newtown (lack lustre), Enniskillen (so, so) and Irvinestown (making gains) all merit a place in the top four. Meanwhile, Belnaleck (wobbly), Aghadrumsee (limited), Brookeboro (just there for the fun) and Coa (very very weak) all occupy the worse zone in the entire senior league football!
