Lory Meagher

(Oldest Posts First)

Good luck to the lads this saturday in croker, hope you bring home some more silverware. No doubt the County Board will be falling over themselves to get into the ground, and wax lyrical about the sterling work they are doing within the county to premote the game of hurling.

ShowsFair could you please explain why Fermanagh as the favourites were beaten and failed to lift the Lory Meagher Cup? Straight and to the point answer and no waffle please.

Longford scored more than them - straightforward enough?

The same reason why Antrim beat fermanagh in the football last week, the better team on the day won.
The favourites dont always win and thats the joy of sport, fermanagh footballers were favourites and got beat,3 finals in croke on Saturday and all 3 favourites Fermanagh,Fingal and Kerry got beat, the bookies dont always get it right.

Can we avoid the tit for tat 'The hurlers got beat HA HA', vs 'Sure the footballers got beat by the worst team in the province' rubbish and actually sort out the fundamental problem with Fermanagh GAA?

Problem is the total lack of planning and strategy by our county board. Little or nothing of note is being done at underage level at either football or hurling. The fact that both codes have survived at all is credit to the resilience of the individual clubs. This cannot be sustained however. Immediate action is essential at primary school level to build from the bottom up so that the young GAA men and women of today will have something to be proud of when they wear the green and white of Fermanagh on the pitch or in the stands.
