Remember when Dublin were crap?

(Oldest Posts First)

Lost by a combined million points (or something like that) to Tyrone, Kerry and Meath in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Seems like a long time ago now.

Only too well!

It's left a mark.

As ClonDub said earlier

Remember losing to Westmeath & Laois in Croke Park!

It was officially the worst period in Dublin GAA history 1996-2010

Typical... right through our prime supporting years in your 20's

So many awful defeats, humiliating defeats, and we were dragged through the muck backwards by those loving every second of it!

Called every name under the sun

That's what makes it all the sweeter now though!

All the very much sweeter indeed.

last kick of the game, a peno, a peno!!! This to draw with Meath and take it to a replay......
Who will take it.....Jayo? Charlie? Dessie? Keith Barr?.........wait, wait.....Bealo....surely not....Bealo.....??!! BEALO?!

He steps up.....a city holds its breath..............

Thus ended that great team and from thus, a seemingly terminal decline set in

What followed was just embarrassing and depressing with one or two brief interludes under Tommy Lyons and Carr.

Pillar gave us some hope but left us all with a tray of eggs on our faces for various reasons.

What we have now, many of the younger generation wont even fully appreciate. They have only known success and plaudits. Jesus we remember being the butt of a national joke and the other 31 loving it.

These are the best of times, this is the 1966 of Dublin GAA.

Appreciate it lads, breath it in. This is epic!

Christ I'd forgotten about Laois in 2003 and Westmeath in 2004.

Dark days.

The worst was probably losing to a crap Meath team in 2010. Meath 2010 were far far far worse than Laois (03) or Westmeath (04).

Night is darkest just before the dawn I suppose.

I remember back in those days Pat Dolan wrote an article in the star saying why Ireland were a better soccer team now was cause there was a lot more country lads on the team, he said look at the Dublin football team Dublin people are not winners or don't have the drive to be ,something like that, I was fuming when he wrote it, I'd love to know what he thinks of us now.
