Jim Gavin - Freedom Of The City

(Oldest Posts First)

Dublin City Council are set to finally recognise this great Dublin team and give Jim Gavin the freedom of the city.

About time imo.

Now they need to get cracking on the Stephen Cluxton, Diarmuid Connolly and Philly McMahon statues to be placed at Heuston Station, Connolly Station and Busáras respectively ;)

The statues would be lovely way for our country cousins to be welcomed into their fair capital city.

A really fitting tribute to someone who has contributed so much to the GAA in Dublin, less we forget an All Ireland winner himself, coached multiple U 21 winning teams and six All Ireland's with the senior team, taming the GAA unicorn that was the elusive five in a row.

What a contribution to the city and county.

Love the idea of statues, pepper them all around the City, Bernard at the train station in Drumcondra, Macker at the top of Clonliffe, Paul Flynn at the top of the North Circual, Alan on Jones Road. Keavney, Anton and Mullins as well one in Rathcoole visible from the M7, one in Lucan on the M4 and one at Balbriggan visible from the M1.

The ring of Dublin.

Brilliant news. No Dub deserves this accolade more than he does. Apart from being a brilliant manager he is a wonderful role model and a credit to his city. Delighted for him.

Will you be building the GAA administrators statues as well? They're the unsung heroes. Never even get so much as a thanks for Dublin GAA people.

Fair point, well made, maybe a statue of John Horan in one of the suburbs like Ashbourne or Dunsaughlin.

Statue of Dean Rock outside Ashbourne Credit Union with 4 Sams at his feet, with one in his hands polishing it with a Meath jersey.

Why are you SO OBSESSED with The Dubs.

You on the Dublin pages more than the Meath pages.

You definitely need a kit-kat.

Massive congrats to Jim

Fantastic personal accolade which of course in his own words accepts on behalf of the team

As humble and modest as ever.

A truly great sports person.

Not like Dublin were ever gifted a match over the last 30 years.
