13 clubs mainly dual clubs.. 3 Senior with the remaining 10 playing between intermediate and junior. The Senior reserves also play in the intermediate grade, as they always have a few senior players lining out with the reserve team as well

Is there any sign of decent improvement from the non ards teams getting close to competing in the senior hurling championship ,

No, not really.

There's still a sizeable gap even with Senior hurling in the Ards being at a low ebb.

There's still a gap alright but I reckon Bredagh or Liatroim could have managed 2 points if they had been in SHC final last year.

I give Laotroim 10 years and they'll be playing senior hurling.

I'm pretty sure Kilcoo play camogaíocht but for senior men it is very much a football village these days. Probably the same in the 'Bridge.

not a chance unless there's a McCrickard in every underage team for 10 years or so.

They never sustain the effort and will always produce a good hurler once in a while, but never enough to make a serious push at senior hurling.

Then you have the big ball.

Crans & Ports -excellent appointments!!
Two men that are die-hard club men through and through. I expect the Ports to bounce straight back up from Div 2 in Antrim and I expect the Crans to be in better shape than they were last year (just avoiding relegation from Antrim Div 1).

Has Coulter stepped down from the Glalget set up? I would have expected him to stay on given the success of last year with promotion in Antrim to the top tier as well as the Down SHC victorry. Surely he will want to stay for the Div 1 Antrim campaign.
