Winners/Losers from Season 2013

(Oldest Posts First)

The 2013 season has come and gone and what a year we've had on the club scene. Would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on the winners and losers from the 2013 club season in Down. Who has lived up to expectations, who has flattered to deceive, who has the potential to be a force in 2014, which players have stood out in their respective Divisions...any thoughts?

Div 1: Winners: Kilcoo (written off by many in S.Down who fancied Burren to pip them in the Championship decider)
Losers: An Riocht (relegated from the top tier, clearly immigration has affected this club significantly)

Div 2: Winners: Glenn (not fancied for the Div 2 title, will play amongst the big boy's next year)
Bosco (a club going places, have made major strides this year and definitely a team on the up)
Losers: Dundrum (without McComiskey they have no threat and results have reflected this in 2013)
Div 3: Winners: Teconnaught (Championship winners and moved up the league unnoticed to pip better teams for promotion)
Aughlisnafin (no longer the whipping boys of Down football, making steady if not spectacular progress
Losers: Mitchels (promising start but the wheels came off in spectacular fashion)

Div 1: Paul Devlin (Kilcoo)
Div 2: Shea Millar (Glenn)
Div 3: Unknown

* Rostrevor - Minor champions and few lads involved in McRory with their respective schools only a matter of time before they reproduce
* Bosco - Most impressive team for me in 2014 making huge strides as club, future is bright
* Niall McParland (Glenn) - Glenn are in the big time now, time for their big players to step up
* Kevin O'Rourke (Mayobridge) - Carrying the bridge in the absence of Benny
* Stephen Kearney (Saval) - Fierce season for Saval, expectations high for 2014

I had fancied Kilcoo to win the An Dún Championship but I didn't expect them to beat Crossmaglen - at least not as heavily! They are flying the flag for Down now and there is no good reason they can't win Ulster and after that who knows.

What is the status in the Ulster club Junior and Intermediate? Are the Down teams still in it?
