" as the lads who took all the abuse this year had to be coaxed into taking them after no one else wanted it." WRONG!!!The "lads" who took it applied for it

"McNally probably can't believe his luck Cahill.." Unless that gentleman you are referring to is a mind reader he wouldn't know anything about the new appointment as it was just a wee white lie......so blocktop wrang again!

"A club steeped in under achievement." Here says a man from a senior club who were baron in regards to the DOWN senior championship for 14 years!

And saying ur reading this thread blocktop you can answer me this..... has your senior manager transferred to a team in England? ......Now there is dedication for ye if he has!!!!!

I think all Down clubs have under-achieved, Portaferry moreso probably due to the size of their club, and the results below confirm thus: Twenty years since Ballycran won Ulster and eight since the galgets have won
This is the type of thing the Co Board and clubs should be addressing and not silly nonsense like who will be the feile champs each year and where the Down team will train or play.

Cuchullians, Dunloy 10 - 1990, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2009
Ruairi Og, Cushendall 9 - 1981, 1985, 1987, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2006, 2008
Loughgiel Shamrocks 8 - 1970, 1971, 1982, 1989, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
McQuillan's, Ballycastle 6 - 1978, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1984, 1986
O'Donovan Rossa 4 - 1972, 1977, 1988, 2004
Ballygalget 3 - 1975, 1998, 2005
Ballycran 3 - 1974, 1976, 1993

Antrim league Div1 format changed. Everyone plays each other once, 9 games after that the league is split into top 5 and bottom 5 who then play amongst themselves, another 4 fixtures. Bottom 2 out of the bottom 5 relegated and top team in top 5 wins..

Much to play for as the Ards clubs could go either way!!

It would take the end of season pressure off if ye made the top 5.

Yeah, your star men could rest up early and not have to travel to far flung places like Ballygalget to secure points.
