Replying To Seannie Og:  "The u21 championship is a good competition. It extends the season and keeps boys hurling. Its also good for lads that have drifted away after minor.

The fixtures came out this morning

Group A

Rd 1 27 Oct Portaferry v Ballygalget 12 noon
Rd 2 1 Nov Bredagh v Ballygalget 7.30
Rd 2 3 Nov Ballycran v Portaferry 12 noon
Rd 3 10 Nov Ballygalget v Ballycran 12 noon
Rd 3 10 Nov Portaferry v Bredagh 12 noon
Rd 1 15 Nov Bredagh v Ballycran 7.30"
Would all the pitches be available I know ballycran would be under pressure with the weather

You can't play hurling on a bog of a pitch and the only pitch in the Ards that can withstand a bit of rain is prone to Gale force winds..

It's hurling in name only.

I'd predicted the following for the weekend past but the mods felt the need to block it for some reason

Minor
Loughgiel by as much as they wanted to

Junior
Treacy's

Intermediare
I went for Bredagh but only just but they won with a bit to spare.

St Endas and Coleraine seem to be the teams to beat in that one.

Two right so far and with the Shamrocks getting walloped in the football they can now pick up the ash in earnest."
I'd say the players care about it it's still another championship to win more game time for some. You could probably see most of the games being played in Belfast. Could they not have a u21 league in down or the down teams join Antrim ?

The Bredagh matches will be on the 4G in Cherryvale. Last year the Crans played home games at Woodlands.

Why can't it be played during the summer like every other county does.

Antrim football started last weekend.

The Antrim hurling U21 was played in June with only a handful of teams on a Monday night during their Joe McDonagh campaign.

Ask Paudie if he'd want the clubs taking their U21 hurlers whilst in the middle of our Christy Ring campaign.

Too big of an overlap in Down for clubs to play U21 and adult fixtures at the same time.

Won't get any better when we move to U19.

Edit, Antrim never got round to playing a final.
