Derry ace Shane McGuigan says confidence in the camp is high heading into their Ulster SFC opener against Tyrone on May 12th.

The Oak Leafers scored their eighth consecutive victory of the league campaign last Saturday to take home the Division 4 title, with McGuigan contributing a Man of the Match display against Leitrim at Croke Park.

The Slaughtneil man pointed out afterwards that remaining unbeaten throughout the competition was important to the group.

“We were going to get no praise for winning Division 4 so we knew we just had to do our own thing,” McGuigan told the Irish Daily Mirror.

“People can say or talk about whatever they want but that group of players in our dressing room, they’re all that matters. We’ve got the trophy and that’s all we’ve got to say.

“We set out our stall to go undefeated in the league and we did that.”

On next month’s provincial derby against Tyrone, he added: “We fear nothing and I’m just excited now for that game in May.”
