Lomans for the senior.

Think miltownpass for inter. Even thou miltown moate tang and multy had good league

Bal to walk junior. Playing division 2 in the league to stand to them

1st round of games this weekend

SFC G1
Tyrellspass V Athlone - both had bad league getting relagated to D2. Think Athlone may edge
Shamrocks V Garrycastle - Was very impressed with Garrycastle on Friday, think they'll be too strong for the defending champs
St.Lomans V The Downs - Lomans will be too strong I imagine

SFC G2
Kinnegad V Killucan - Depends on what type of team Killucan but think Kinnegad can edge this local derby
Shandonagh V Castledaly - Should be a tight game, Castledaly had a good warm up in the D2 final at weekend and may edge it
St.Marys V Rosemount - Rosemount very poor Friday last but should serve as a wakeup call. Can see them being to strong for Marys

IFC G1
Milltownpass V Milltown - Think Milltown will keep up their impressive form with a win here
Caulry V Moate - A good opening local derby here, think Caulry will be too strong
Tang V Maryland - Another local derby but Tang should win comfortably

IFC G2
Kilbeggan V St.Malachys - Like Killucan it depends on players available this year but Mals should shade it
Multyfarnham V Tubberclare - Tubberclare seem to have improved this year and I think they'll win here
Bunbrosna V Ballymore - tight game here, could be a draw

I see the Offaly Co. Board have introduced a weekend ticket for €15 (similar to other counties). It would be great if our Co. Board followed suit. It is a no brainier if you ask me, try spur some interest again.

A lot of counties seem to have been introducing this in some fashion. Would be great to see it in Westmeath also. On a similar note, does anyone know about the Club+ season ticket, does this cover admission to junior & intermediate championship games also?

Impressive win for coralstown kinnegad in opening game of senior championship. They've shown a huge improvement on last year's performances all this year and this continued on Friday night. They're a side full of pace and easily got the better of killucan who on this showing will be very lucky to survive at senior level. A lucky opening goal kept killucan competitive for approx 35 mins but the result never looked in doubt beyond half time. Woods at midfield for c-k, James maxwell, Jack torpey, Darren Giles and Shane Fleming were outstanding for the winners and the only blemish on their evening was the loss of Ger leech and Darren Giles to injury. They will need both and the absent Alan Giles if they are to qualify.

SFC G1
Tyrellspass V Athlone - Athlone +5 (Without Egan + Gonoud will struggle this year)

Shamrocks V Garrycastle - Draw (Should be the game of the weekend IMO, GCastle have momentum but Shamrock will want to prove last year wasn't a fluke, terrible away jersey out of Shamrocks, BLUE??)

St.Lomans V The Downs - St Lomans + 2 (Should have enough, however, wouldn't be surprised if The Downs run them close)

SFC G2
Kinnegad V Killucan - (Kinnegad won last night +11)

Shandonagh V Castledaly - Shandonagh +5 ("The time is now for Shandonagh", however, we've read that before!)

St.Marys V Rosemount - Rosemount +3 (Hard to see anything but a win for Rosemount after strong league, but the Bridge can and have surprised in the past)

IFC G1
Milltownpass V Milltown - Milltownpass + 2 (Should be a great game, Milltownpass are a very strong inter team and will look to go one step further than last year)

Caulry V Moate - Caulry +1 (Haven't a clue, Caurly to shade it?)

Tang V Maryland - Tang + 10 (Tang should beat them of the field! Hold Martin and McCormack and Tang should cruise)

IFC G2
Kilbeggan V St.Malachys - (St Malachys won last night +7)

Multyfarnham V Tubberclare - (Multy won last night +10)

Bunbrosna V Ballymore - Bun +2 (This game should suit Bun)

few surprises this weekend with wins for Maryland and Moate the biggest surprise results for me. Great wins for them over 2 of the favourites. Milltown looking good and continuing their good form in that group.

Most the senior games went as expected with the margin of victory in some games the most surprising. Great results for Tyrellspass and Shandonagh especially while I was surprised how easily Garrycastle won with Dessie sitting up in Croker while they were playing, strange I thought but dont think its the first time he's picked RTE over the club.

On initial viewing it looks like Athlone and The Downs to finish in bottom 2 of group with 2 from Rosemount, Shandonagh or Kinnegad to go up from group 2

Some interesting and not so interesting results over the weekend. Great win for Tyrellspass considering who they were missing, Big score put up Lomans - John Heslin and TJ Cox un-markable in the full forward line, likewise Luke Loughlin in scintillating form for the The Downs. Kinnegad and Rosemount got wins as expected, and Garrycastle looked comfortable in the end vs Mullingar, as did Shandonagh who absolutely steam rolled Castledaly. Outside of that, in the intermediate Moate picked up the bragging rights vs Caulry, and the ever improving Milltown looked very comfortable in the second half in particular outscoring Milltownpass by 3.3 to 5 points. I fancied a win for Tang, but Maryland weren't long about tearing up that script.

I heard at the game on Saturday night that Dessie was suspended for the 1st round after picking up a red card after the semi final last year against St.Lomans

I heard some people saying that too, although I don't remember him being sent off vs Lomans. Greene and Heneghan were both sent off though, and they were both suspended last night. Garrycastle looked impressive regardless.
