Replying To NarrowBack914:  "Didn't get to see the LI match, but i hope they are not reverting back to their old ways. The basis for their drop from Inter to Junior B was they gave up all their Inter players and were starting from scratch with Shannon Gaels underage players. Junior B is for the American kids coming up through the minor board and also Irish guys that are well past their prime and just want to keep playing the game. By the scoreline that they put up against Rangers would appear they are using more then they say they are. Barnabas and Rangers are the teams to beat in junior B and unless Rangers just put out a team for the sake of it, questions need to be asked of players IDs…"
Correct Me if I am wrong but Shannon Gaels started in 2005 or so with an U-10 team. Thats means those boys are now about 21 Years Old. I can ASSURE You that there were none of those Shannon Gaels Kids playing with with Long Island Gaels.

Have followed New York GAA for years and visit there at least once a month. Was at the Rangers v Barnabas drawn game and it was exciting because it was close, but it was junior b standard. Two players stood out. One was in the half-back line for Rangers and one in the half-back line for Barnabas.
During the years the Cavan club had questions raised regarding the legality of their players. They said nothing but year in and year out were competitive. Never were objected to. In the last number of years the LI Gaels seem to have become the team others love to hate. Why? Is it something personal or is it to draw attention away from themselves.

@ Ranger, you are probably right. Like i said, i didn't get to see the match myself, but that was the "justification" given to the Senior Board and Junior B clubs for the drop from Inter to B. Barnabas well and truly beat Celtics in the Knock Out semi and Rangers drew with them in the Final, so for LI to turn around and beat Rangers by 2 goals raises a lot of questions. I don't know if it was a sloppy match or if Rangers were missing a lot of players, but it will be interesting to see how LI fields from here on out.

@ GAA Fan, I've been involved in NY GAA for many years and have never heard any of the things you have talked about. Why would Cavan never mind LI be questioned as to legality when there are numerous teams that have been far more successful then both of them combined never been questioned. I personally don't think its anyone trying to hide anything, all I'm saying is LI fielded 1 very poor team for Knock Out match and then an entirely new team for first championship match (from what i have been told) so that does raise questions, especially since they are new to the division having played in 2 divisions higher last year.

It's simple folks. LI not to be trusted. Seems intermediate is heading down the same road as senior. Talking to a few good GAA men over the weekend who told me that more money spent in intermediate this year than senior football last year. Next year it will trickle into junior A and so on. So 5 years we will last at best. Last years intermediate winners Barnabas have not played any senior games this year. Have they folded there senior team. Seem that way

Mayo looked very good. They must have had 35 players togged out. Very strange considering they could barely field a team in the league.

Yes I agree, I believe Mayo are the dark horses in this group. They will finish in the top four and possibly top two. There will be a number of teams really disppointed not to make playoffs in this group. Will Be Mayo,Sligo, Westmeath and Brooklyn making the semi finals.

Monaghan getting threw out of the league seems a bit extreme! Is it a common thing for them not to field, as the penalty is only supposed to be $500 fine.

I hear a couple of players on the mayo team only arrived into town the day before the match. I taught the rules states a player has to be in the country 28 days before you can transfer

Yes that is correct. They must be a minimum of 28 days in the USA.

28 days is correct. Cut off is July 1st. Sure all teams are playing illegal players.
It's better than no games

It's not right. In fairness to a lot of intermediate teams they are playing by the rules yet the likes of mayo and Kerry can do what they want.
